How Game of Thrones revitalised Belfast’s property market

The poet Seamus Heaney once said: “Anyone born and bred in Northern Ireland can’t be too optimistic.” Yet its capital, Belfast, has been slowly turning into a vibrant and dynamic city since the Good Friday Agreement brought peace in 1998.

There are now a number of reasons to be cheerful. Although the Troubles helped keep property prices in Belfast among the lowest in the UK, in the first quarter of 2018, Northern Ireland was the strongest performing region of the UK, according to the Nationwide House Price Index, up 7.9 per cent, year on year.
